Sept. 20, 2017: Hurricanes Irma and Maria

Dear Wake Forest Alumni, Friends, and Current and Past Parents and Families,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, whose devastating effects to many Caribbean and Atlantic islands are yet to be fully realized.

Parents are encouraged to contact the Office of Family Engagement should the University need to be aware of any extraordinary circumstances affecting their students. The Office of the Dean of Students, University Counseling Center, Office of the Chaplain and resident advisers are available to listen to students who need to speak with someone here.

As always, our Office of Alumni Engagement is here to assist with the needs of Wake Forest graduates. If we can do anything to support your needs, please contact

Our Hurricane Relief website outlines Wake Forest’s support to students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff who have loved ones in the areas recently impacted by these successive storms. We are keeping our website up to date with resources to help our Wake Forest family and others in recovering areas.

In times like these, we gain strength from and are inspired by the Pro Humanitatespirit of Wake Forest basketball great Tim Duncan (’97) and those who have supported his plea to remember the islands. So far, Tim has helped raise more than $2.5 million – including $1 million of his own money — for relief efforts in his native U.S. Virgin Islands.

If Wake Forest can do anything to help you, please let us know.
